Sacramento Area Tournament of Club Champions

By Jeanne Lambson, Sacramento Area Director

Oct. 29, 2018, was the Sacramento Area Tournament of Club Champions. It was a great golf day with just a little wind. There were 51 club champions (including runners up) and 36 After the Field Players. In addition to the TOCC competition, a skins game was open to all. Low Gross and Low Net Club Champions were all recognized and presented with TOCC pins. Pam Katros, from EWGA was the Low Gross winner with a low gross score of 76. Kathi Botelho from Turkey Creek Ladies Golf Club won the Low Net competition with a Net 68. Both winners were presented with trophies to take home and a perpetual plaque will be updated and given to them to display at their club house for the next year. $261 in sweeps were paid out to the top 7 winners in the Low Gross and Low Net Categories. 73 players participated in the skins game and there was $359 paid out in skins. PWGA logo balls were given to all players who made the green on their drive on holes 8 and 16.

Adding to all of the excitement of the day was a Hole in One on Hole 10 by Kathi McCoy of Lincoln Hills. Thanks to the generosity of Cherry Island, Kathi was presented with a free round for two at Cherry Island so that she can revisit the location of her hole in one. Incidentally, she also won a skin for that hole in one and 7th place sweeps in the low gross competition. PWGA rules officials filled out the hole in one paperwork for Cherry Island, and Kathi’s club will complete the PWGA hole in one documents so that Kathi will receive her PWGA certificate and pin.

Dana Carrigan, the PWGA Rules Director was just about 4 inches from a hole in one on hole 13. Although she didn’t quite make the hole in one, our Intern, Alejandra, happened to be on site to get a picture of the 4-inch miss for bragging rights. Dana also won a skin for her effort.
