Sacramento’s Last Playday of the Year

By Sacramento Area Director, Jeanne Lambson

The Sierra View Awards Play Day turned out to be a perfect golf day after a “smoke” scare which did not materialize. We did have a couple of players that decided not to come at the last minute because of “expected unhealthy smoke”. It was an exciting “real shotgun start,” complete with smoking gun!

Pace of play was good (most finishing between 4-5 hours). The perpetual plaque for Low Gross Champion had been updated and was presented to the Low Gross Champ from last month’s TOCC (Pam Katros). The Low Net Champion (Kathi Botelho) will be presented with her plaque at her Club’s Christmas Party.

Gabrielle Self (the Sacramento Area Team Play Coordinator), presented the trophies for the top 3 play day teams. She had 22 teams participating. She presented trophies to the top 3 teams.

1st place: Whitney Oaks Team 1

2nd place: Whitney Oaks Team 2

3rd place: EWGA

Skins: 109 participated in the optional Skins Game. $543 was awarded for skins with the top payouts being: Anne Bianchi and Shirley Roberts, $25; Debby Paulsen and Pamela Marich, collecting $20.

With Ball on Green incentive, $127 was collected for the Benevolent Projects, specifically for UAV.

The course, staff, and food were incredible. If possible, we will be going back!

Year end Sacramento statistic were: 8 tournaments including TOCC and Team Play Qualifying averaging 113 players each play day, and all but TOCC and Bing Maloney being sell outs.

It was another great Sacramento Area Play Day thanks to the Sacramento Area Tournament Team: Marsha Berry, Gabrielle Self, and Debbee West. Rules Officials Dana Carrigan, Pat Keys, and Lee Ann Lobaugh; and, yours truly, Area and Tournament Director, Jeanne Lambson. Our Intern, Alejandra Duffy, could not make it this time and we missed her. All results can be found on the Sacramento Area Golf Genius Portal. Sign in with GGID:  SACPWGA.
