Meet the Board: Meet Nancy Boggs
Meet Nancy Boggs
By Alejandra Duffy
As you can see, we're starting a new series on our blog to help you get to know our Board members. Maybe you already know some of them, but hopefully you'll understand why they give so much time and love to the Pacific Women's Golf Association after reading each of their stories.
Today, we're interviewing Nancy Boggs, our PWGA Past President.
I am the wife and mother of three. My husband is a farmer and we live on the old family farm in Manteca. I was fortunate to be able to stay home and raise my children. My children have grown and I am now the grandmother of five and great grandmother of two, soon to be three.
I was brought into the world of golf by my sister. She and her teacher friends wanted to take group lessons and needed another body. I went under protest (thought it was a silly game). My husband suggested it might be something we could do together if I liked it. Long story short, I got hooked and my husband and I have vacationed at some great golf resorts (he likes it too). I soon joined River Oaks golf ladies and from there I joined Manteca Ladies 18 Hole club. I became the PWGA Rep, and found out about tournaments. I have enjoyed playing in most of the tournaments offered by PWGA and enjoyed the company of many new friends. I have also held the position of Area Director, Rules Director and now serve on the Rules Committee. I served as President in 2017 and am now your Past President.
OUTSIDE OF GOLF
When I am not playing golf, I am very active in my church, serving as pledge secretary for many years.I am also an avid crafter and have a couple of paintings and soapstone sculptures that I am proud of. I also enjoy cooking and gardening (I provide a lot of my flowers for our church alter vases). I have held various part time jobs from teacher aide, sales and office staff. I have enjoyed my time as a volunteer for PWGA and will still serve on the Rules Committee. I hope to see you out on the course chasing that little white ball while enjoying some of the prettiest scenery around.
