A message from our New President

Bobbie HoepnerHi!  I would like to introduce myself – My name is Barbara “Bobbie” Hoepner, and I am pleased to be your PWGA President for 2009.  I am a third generation Californian and a member of the Alameda and Sunward (Lake Chabot) Women’s Golf Clubs.  Compared to many of our members, I am fairly new to golf, having joined my first club in 2000.  Prior to being “hooked on golf” I worked full time in Education and Real Estate while serving in the Coast Guard Auxiliary and Reserve for over 20 years.  Having majored in Physical Education in college, I have always been active in a variety of sports.  While at Penn State in the 1960’s I began to compete in foil fencing, and continued in this sport while coaching the men’s and women’s club teams at U.C. Berkeley.  When I grew too old to fence effectively, I was fortunate to discover golf, and the many wonderful ladies associated with this sport.  It is a challenging, exciting, and fun sport; especially when you are hitting well!  There is always room for improvement, no mater how low your handicap!  Perfect is 18, and no one is perfect!

During my term as your president, I will strive to enable all our members to have the opportunity to experience the joys of this sport.  This can be done by enabling our clubs to take advantage of the benefits of their PWGA membership.  Your office staff in Rocklin, as well as your Directors and Officers, is here to help you achieve this goal; service is the reason we are here.  Whether it is in rules, course rating, tournaments, handicaps, play days, membership, or recognition, PWGA is here for you.  My job is to orchestrate those who are so ready and willing to serve you  - so that you too can experience the fun of playing the “Game of Golf”.

If you have any suggestions or comments please call Bobbie @ 510-522-3029 or email me at bhoepner@sbcglobal.net

Website improvements
We are working on our website to make some improvements in order to make things simpler for all our members. We have added a few tools to make the site interactive. Now you can go to any Tournament page, and map the address of the golf course you are playing, or the hotel that you will be staying. You can also check out the local weather and see how things look like in the are you will be golfing.

This is still a work in progress. Please email the webmaster if you encounter any problems, or you have suggestions. We look forward to hearing from you.
