COURSE RATINGS
One of the Services PWGA provides to it’s members is course rating. The USGA has determined that courses must be rated at least once every 10 years. PWGA has imposed it’s own rating schedule of every 7 years or sooner if major changes have been made to the golf course. PWGA has a qualified rating team in each of our eight areas. These course raters are trained at the USGA Calibration School and on the course.
A Golf Course is rated on its measured length and its playing difficulty under normal conditions based on the ability of the scratch golfer, and the bogey golfer, and compared with other rated courses. If the length of your course changes materially ( a differences of 18 yards will change the yardage Rating 0.1 stroke.), contact your Area Course Rating Chairwoman as soon as possible. Area Course Rating Chairwomen are listed in your PWGA Handbook. If you have a course rating questions you may E-Mail Kathy Darden our Course Rating Director.
PWGA Permanent Course Rating Markers are available through the PWGA office.
To become a Course Rater, for rating information or to schedule a rating for your golf course please contact your local course rating chairwoman.
